Not every graduation session is a solo portrait session, and honestly, some of the best ones are not. Abby brought her four best friends to her University of Arizona graduation session, and the energy from the moment we arrived at Old Main was exactly what you want out of a shoot like this. Fun, silly, genuine, and full of the kind of joy that only comes from finishing college surrounded by the people who were there for all of it.
Abby is a University of Arizona Class of 2026 graduate, and her session at the Old Main fountain garden captured everything that makes the UA campus so special during graduation season. The red blooms, the warm brick, the fountain, and five friends who clearly had the best four years together.
This is the shot. Five women at the Old Main fountain, two on top and three down low in a pyramid, everyone laughing with their arms in the air. There is absolutely no posing happening here, just five best friends having the time of their lives on a perfect Tucson evening. This is what graduation season is supposed to feel like.
Group sessions like this one work best when everyone is genuinely comfortable with each other, and Abby’s crew made that effortless. The fountain garden near Old Main is one of the most versatile spots on the University of Arizona campus. Wide enough for a big group, beautiful enough that the background does the work, and lit perfectly during golden hour. We made full use of it.
When a group of friends is this in sync, you do not need to direct much. The laughs come naturally, the poses fall into place, and the camera just catches what is already happening. These are the photos that are going to live on someone’s wall for decades and still make everyone crack up every time they walk by.
Abby, congratulations on graduating from the University of Arizona. You brought the best people to celebrate with and it showed in every single frame. The fountain garden, the golden light, the smiles that had zero effort in them. That is the session right there. Bear Down, Class of 2026.
