If you know, you know. University of Arizona graduation season hits different. The golden desert light, the red brick buildings, the cacti lining every walkway. When Zachary reached out about booking his UA graduation session, I could already picture it. He brought his best friend along too, and honestly, the best sessions always have that energy.

Zachary is a University of Arizona Class of 2026 Engineering grad, and he wanted his session to feel polished but real, the kind of photos that actually look like him, not just generic cap and gown shots. We hit several spots across campus: the Old Main fountain plaza, the Engineering building entrance, and the Pi Kappa house wall. Every location on this campus has its own personality, and that variety is exactly why I love shooting University of Arizona graduation photos year after year.

Suits, Stoles, and Best Friends at Old Main

One of my favorite parts of any University of Arizona graduation session is when a graduate brings their whole crew. Zachary and his best friend both showed up sharp, navy suits, UA stoles, the whole look. The fountain at Old Main gave us that classic campus backdrop with just the right amount of energy. Water features, cacti, red flowers, this spot delivers every time. These are the shots that end up framed on living room walls and screenshotted on Instagram.

For Zachary’s solo UA graduation portraits, we started right there by the fountain. In his gown with the orange-and-red Engineering stole, the warm afternoon light hit perfectly. There’s something about that moment, gown on, diploma incoming, whole future ahead, that you can see on someone’s face. Zachary had it.

There’s something about two best friends who genuinely love each other that photographs differently than anything else. When I turned the camera on them mid-conversation, the laughter was completely real. These are the University of Arizona graduation pictures that actually matter years from now, not the stiff poses, but the moments in between.

Engineering Building: Where It All Happened

We moved to the Engineering building next, and this spot is always a must for any UA Engineering grad. The carved stone columns, the old brick facade, it’s timeless. Zachary leaning against that entrance with his stole, one hand in his pocket, is the kind of shot that says everything without saying a word. This is what I mean when I say the University of Arizona is one of the most photogenic campuses in the Southwest.

The Pi Kappa wall was our wildcard location, and it delivered. Zachary and his best friend perched up on that painted wall with the blue sky behind them and the bold lettering below. That contrast, the wide open sky, the color. It’s a completely different vibe from the Old Main shots, and that variety is exactly what makes a gallery feel full.

We wrapped with some bridge walkway portraits, clean background, great light, easy smiles. By that point in the session, Zachary was completely natural in front of the camera. That relaxed confidence comes through in every frame.

Zachary, congratulations on graduating from University of Arizona. Four years of Engineering. That’s no small thing. These photos are proof of everything you put into it, and I’m so glad you let me capture this chapter.
